TROY DAVIS. WILL HE DIE IN VAIN?

The premise of the justice system is to convict a citizen when there is guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Especially in the matter of the brutal business of the government taking a man's life. An American man, Troy Davis, is going to be killed in Georgia, tonight, Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7:00 pm for the alleged 1989 murder of police officer. There is much reasonable doubt regarding this man's guilt. There are a litany of reasons why this man should not die tonight. A witness testified that another man confessed to the murders. Multiple jurors recanted their original verdicts. The former FBI director William Sessions demanded that the death sentence be commuted. The Atlanta Journal Constitution argued that the basis of the guilty verdict is now clearly in doubt. In America, we don't ask people to prove their innocence! Our jurist prudent system states that we must find people guilty to all exclusions of any doubt. Clearly there was doubt on so many instances. How is it that America can actually kill people when they may be innocent?

If you can't prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt then you can't kill this man. This case has the world's attention. When did we start to ignore all statements of doubt by those who have looked long and hard at the case and apply the cruelest punishment of all. Death can never be remedied. You can't take it back. This man is about to be murdered. Regardless of how we justify it, the execution of a prisoner is a state sanctioned murder. This needs to stop people. Please make your voices heard.

I urge politicians, celebrities, and leaders to make their voices heard. Remember the saying about the squeeky wheel? The last resort there is for the District Attorney to remove the death warrant on the life of Troy Davis. This is truly sad and injust. God Bless Troy Davis and his family

According to Amnesty International, nearly 1 million people have signed a petition on Davis' behalf. His supporters include former President Jimmy Carter, Pope Benedict XVI, a former FBI director, the NAACP, several conservative figures and many celebrities, including hip-hop star Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Natalie Maines and many others. It seems that the cries will be in vain. According to officials he will be dead in minutes.

The Talk Continues To Stay Hush Hush

It's been two days and CBS is crowing about the fact that The Talk has not dipped at all in the ratings. I'm reading this and I'm thinking they are happy about not dipping? Which by the way, I'm not sure I believe. Reason being is that every blog, message board, twitter, and face book is posting hundreds of people's disappointment of the change. People are tweeting that they took it off their dvr and tivo. So I'm not sure who is supposedly watching. No matter how much they are ignoring the huge elephant in the room, folks are still passionately voicing their disgust.

How can they get away with taking two important elements off the show and discarding them like yesterday's trash? Not to mention, turning the knife and pouring salt in the wound by not even acknowledging their contributions to the show during the first season. Everyone acts as if they were never even there! Oh yeah, Mrs O tweeted "Great first day. Missed Leah and Holly." Really? Really? Don't let the assholes at CBS get away with this. Keep it up folks. I know I will.

Trendy Mindy News: The Talk Doesn't Talk

Trendy Mindy News: The Talk Doesn't Talk: Despite The Talk's mantra, "Let's Talk". They did none of that on Tuesday, September 6th. Full disclosure, I never watched The Talk eve...

The Talk Doesn't Talk

Despite The Talk's mantra, "Let's Talk". They did none of that on Tuesday, September 6th. Full disclosure, I never watched The Talk ever until this past July. I found myself gravitating towards it when there was really nothing else new to watch this summer. The producers of The Talk guessed right and stayed on the air when The View went on hiatus. So to get my View fix on, I started watching the show. Full disclosure once again, I never really liked Holly Robinson Peete. I thought she was kind of cocky and a little annoying. She did not appear in the best light on Celebrity Apprentice. But I like Sharon Osbourne and I love love love Leah Remini. A great friend of mine is a King of Queens addict so I fell in love with her and her acting. I started to tune in and I liked all these women conversing on all kinds of topics. I felt like their chemistry was natural and that they genuinely liked each other. The producer's gamble paid off and The Talk had the best ratings in July ever. Mainly because the audience was getting to know all the real life personalities. It was killing in the ratings and in all the right demographics for advertisers. I thought to myself wow this is really working out and thank God for Leah and Holly this show is really working. Another admission: I continued to watch the show even though Julie Chen in my opinion is not watchable and neither is Sara Gilbert. But Sara produces the show and Julie's husband is Les Moonvez who runs the network. Thus, they aren't going anywhere.

So here is what happened. Immediately when The Talk went on hiatus, rumors started swirling that Holly and Leah were not going to be asked back. I was floored. Usually, I don't get involved with this stuff because it doesn't pay my bills, but it seemed like such a bad decision. Leah and Holly were the show. They were hysterical and they each wore their heart on their respective sleeves. I started following them both on Twitter and they were tweeting that they had not yet heard if their contracts were renewed. To me, it was really wrong of them to be treated like this. Those shitheads, the producers, had already made up their minds they weren't going to ask Holly and Leah back. Leah even tweeted with humor that they better tell her soon otherwise it would be very awkward when she showed up for work. Finally, Leah tweeted that she was asked to clean out her dressing room. This was two weeks before the show was set to premiere. So everyone immediately assumed Holly was notified too. Well, we were all duped again. Holly tweeted that she still was not notified. I just think this was wrong how they were treated when they helped launch the show and put their whole heart and soul into it. Creating a buzz and a major contributing factor to the high ratings.

Today was the premiere of the show. I sat on my couch with baded breath as to how they would handle announcing the stunning departure of these two enormously talented women. So promos come on and they announce the two new co-hosts, who I like by the way, but I couldn't tell you their names. It was like hearing the new cast of Dancing With The Stars. I know two of them and none of them are stars. They start the show and there is no mention of Leah and Holly with any thanks or well wishes. Do they think their audience is that stupid? Come on people, the whole mantra of the show is "let's talk"... and let's have the talk.. and you have to talk... and blah and blah.. I can't believe they are such cowards and chicken shit and didn't confront the very obvious elephant in the room. I have to say, I have never believed in boycotting until now. I will never watch that show again because they are liers and they do everything but really talk. Not to mention, and I'm trying to be politically correct when I say this, but they did take the eye candy away from the show. And please don't crucify me for this because I know its not about looks. All I will say is Leah is drop dead gorgeous and Holly is very attractive and both are easy on the eyes. The replacements, well let's just say, I plead the fifth. Ugh! I'm annoyed. I love Leah and Holly and wish them all the best and I am joining the campaign that they should have their own talk show. And like I said I never get involved in celebrity drama but this is just wrong. Peace and Love

What Would Dr. Martin Luther King Think Of The View From The Mountaintop Today?

This article is timed with the unveiling of The Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial. As we gather to gaze up at Dr. King's furrowed brow in the coming weeks, we as a nation must ask the question, have we lived up to Dr. King's vision from the mountaintop?

Dr. King was a man who was unafraid to lead. His life was a fight in which he believed "an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". In today's times, shouldn't all of our nations leaders work to mirror the leadership of Dr. King? We all must strive in our own lives to be living memorials. The political situation in Washington is a testament of what is not remembered in the words of Dr. King. We are shredding the poor in all facets and entitling the rich. We have a president who, on one hand, embodies the dream of Dr. King yet fails because he has been pressured to ransom our economy and its promise.

We so need to remember King’s vision today. In the United States, the large gap between the rich and the poor has reached record highs since the Great Depression. The median net worth of black households is $13,450. This is 1/10th of what the income is of white households.

In the last year of his life, Dr. King mounted the Poor People's Campaign. The campaign recognized that poverty and economic alienation was the unifying struggle of America. King saw an increased need for a new understanding and a determination by poor people of all colors and backgrounds to declare and win their right to a decent life and respect for their culture and dignity. It was an issue that demanded a resolution with great leadership. King claimed it, unafraid, though he knew it would put him in direct conflict with America’s political elites. He died before the fight had really begun.

Dr. King saw a nation where the vulnerable, the innocent, and the oppressed struggled for their inalienable rights. In one of King's final sermons before his untimely assassination, King spoke of being a drum major. He said that he was a drum major for peace, justice, and righteousness. We all must be drum majors. All of us have to be regardless of race, color, religion, or sexual preference.

Millions of Americans are unemployed and the inequality of the economy is on the rise, as well as, aid for the needy and infirmed. Americans are again in desperate need of Dr. King's type of coming to the aid of Americans who are disenfranchised. He was never afraid of going toe to toe with those folks that opposed his views. Please Mr. President be more than a symbol of the embodiment of Dr. King's dream.

What good is the defense of marriage act?

I'm sure by now you all have heard about the freak accident that occurred at the Sugarland concert in Indiana over the weekend. There was a rapid change in the weather and the wind caused the stage to blow forward and collapse on the crowd. Forty people were injured and five lost their lives. Well the tragedy doesn't end there unfortunately. One of the victims who lost their life was Christina Santiago. Her partner Alisha Brennon was also injured in the freak accident.

The bodies of four other deceased victims have been released to their loved ones and yet Christina's body still remains in the morgue. The Coroner's office is refusing to release the body to her partner citing the defense of marriage act. This is basically an anti-gay law that says that marriage is between a man and woman. Therefore, relationships that do not fit in those guidelines are not afforded federal rights, like survivorship. The coroner is using that barbaric law as a way to not justify Christina and Alisha's relationship. Christina's only other next of kin is an aunt. The question is who is this defense act protecting here? How does it help anything to prevent Alisha from planning her spouse's funeral?

Why would the federal government inflict this kind of pain on Alisha, who along with just losing her spouse is grappling with her own injuries. The government is supposed to be there to protect you. Who is this protecting? How does inflicting harm upon Alisha in her darkest hour prove to strengthen traditional marriage. Ugh! Our deepest condolences to all that were injured and those that lost their lives. Come on Indiana! Get it right. Equality please.

Racism and Politics

It was a shock to me today but I found myself agreeing with Sherri Shepherd from The View. I even found her to be articulate when explaining today's topic of Racism and Politics. This after all is the woman that admitted on national television that she wasn't sure if the earth was round or not. But let me not digress and go there. Today she was passionate and right when she shouted to her View cohorts "how many passes are these white politicians and pundits going to get? Barbara even motioned for her to "calm down" and "lower her voice". Well I say F Babs and Go Sherri!!

How many times is a politician going to direct a racial epithet to our President and get away with it? They have been too numerous to mention all of them and they are always followed up by an apology saying they didn't realize it was a racial slur. I say bullshit! The latest gaph is congressman Lamborn referring to Obama as a tar baby. That to me is like using the N word. I don't care what the definition is which by the way originated in the days of slavery. It was down right racist and damn disgusting. Do you think he would have ever used that term if the president was white? I completely understand Sherri's passion and disgust.

It's just like Bill Maher has said several times that "these racist republicans can not stand that a black man is President". Therefore, they hide behind a microphone on a right wing political talk show and blab their racism. This joker Lamborn is dying to use the N word. It is on the tip of his tongue and since he can't, he searches for other racial slurs that are just as bad. And yeah he issued an apology a week later and said he meant to use the word Quagmire. Yeah right, considering quagmire and tar baby are such similar expressions. Our government is being dragged down by racist politicians.  But what's else is new?

The Debt Crisis

As I was preparing to blog today, I was looking up hot topics. I was sure all the trending topics would involve the impending deadline that the nation is facing. After all, everyone is talking, blogging, facebooking, and tweeting about it. Most all of us will be strongly impacted by what ever the ruling is. That is unless you are among the very wealthy. But I was wrong. According to online trends, the only topics that are trending are all about the NFL and all the trades that have taken place in the last 24 hours. Now, I am a huge sports fan and in future blogs, I will probably include a lot of sports content. But today is not the day. I was really almost sick when I saw the cover of the NY post. On the cover it depicted shirtless NY Jets receiver Santanio Holmes downing a bottle of Crystal champagne. He was celebrating his 50 million dollar contract that he just signed. So what who cares. He is among the few who will not be impacted by what's going on in Washington.

The rest of us could be literally screwed if the Nation's present AAA credit rating is downgraded. Those of us who have been trying to spend responsively since the economy shit the bed in 2008 could be in big trouble. We will end up paying for Washington's carelessness. For most of this century, Americans spent well beyond their means. They purchased the life they wanted on credit always intending to pay it back later. Once the economy collapsed after all the bets Wall Street made didn't pay off, we as Americans started spending more wisely. To our credit, we started living within our means.

Americans started honoring their obligations and paying down their debts. We did what we were supposed to do. Now we are hearing that Washington may blow off paying their debts down. How is this possible? But guess what folks it is possible!  And if it happens, we are the people that are going to end up suffering for it. But thank God NFL players won't suffer, right folks?

Another Congressman Bites The Dust

Just weeks after Weiner, another Congressman is involved in a sexual scandal. Representative David Wu, a 56 year old Congressman from Oregon is resigning. This is more disturbing than Weiner's. It involves a 18 year old female who is a friend of the Wu family. Wu released a statement sighting the reason for his resignation. He said he wants to protect the young woman and does not wish to bring attention or publicity to the young woman and her family. He is being accused of aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior. Wu asserts that anything that happened was consensual but he is leaving office to protect his kids as well.

The saddest thing about this whole scenario is that David Wu has primary custody of his children. He has been separated from his wife since 2009. He was awarded custody because his wife has documented addiction issues that have caused her to spend time in rehab. Wu is not without his own demons. He has reportedly suffered from mental issues that required prescription medicine and therapy.

In light of all these political scandals lately we have all been talking about the scorned wife. First it was Maria Schriver and then Anthony Weiner's wife. They have both garnered a lot of sympathy from the Nation. Well in this scandal, I think its appropriate to have a lot of sympathy for these poor kids. They are obviously suffering.

Congress Stalemate

Well it seems that the Congress has reached a stalemate and frankly I'm a bit troubled because between our president and speaker of the house John Boehner its like a school fight on the playground. Each will not budge. The president talks about compromise but it doesn't appear that he is open to it to the degree he needs to be. I listened to both parties and while I am not a political pundit it seems that we are far from a compromise that needs to happen within a week. Obama started his speech by giving statistics of Reaganomics. He said that the debt ceiling was always routine. He said historically, Congress has always passed it. Reagan did it 18 times. He went on to say so did George Bush Sr, as well as, Clinton.

In his address to the nation, he went onto directly intimate to our working class and seniors that if there were deep spending cuts it would affect our Social Security benefits as well as tax raises for middle class. He also stated that interest rates on credit cards, mortgages, and car loans would increase exponentially. Obama went on to say that the economic catastrophe would be all Washington's fault. First of all 6 months extension would not help. The greater danger is that the House Of Representatives will refuse to raise taxes among the wealthiest Americans. Obama said, Congress has a week. Serious debt reduction has to passs both houses of Congress. Enough members of both parties will put our differences aside. The debt is stacked against working class Americans and they are gonna pay instead of the wealthy few. He went on to say Americans didn't vote for a dysfunctional government. Americans believe in every point of view. He pontificated that from Slavery to war there was always compromise. He quoted Jefferson" Every man can not have its way". Americans, put country above self. They held us together during difficult times Obama said we need to show the world that we are united. Not just because we will keep our words and obligation but because we can come together.

It seems that this was an appeal from Obama to the American people. He is trying to put pressure on the republicans to cut a deal that will raise the debt ceiling another 1.5 trillion dollars. John Boehner speaker of the house appeared to refute the tenets of Obama's speech. We aren't living within our means. US can not default on its obligations. We need spending cuts. I made a sincere effort to work with the President. Unfortunately the President consistently maintains we need a balanced approach, Boehner asserted that the President wanted a blank check six months ago and he wants one now. He stated that we are gonna pass a bill that is based on bi partisanship. That is the bill we are sending to the President. Spending will be cut by a billion dollars. Boehner doesn't talk about the fact that that will include cutting SS and other governmental funded programs as well as raising taxes on the hard working. He states the same old rich adage Bigger the government the smaller the people. If your spending more money than your taking in, u need to spend less. The one distinct difference between Obama and Boehner that is clear is that the one in the White House clearly cares about the American Citizens. All the American citizens and not just the wealthy few.

NFL ends Lock Out

Sports talk is all the buzz today, July 25th. Everyone has been stressing about an NFL lock out. Did folks really believe this would happen.? Not!!! This has been the NFL's own version of Days of our Lives. This lock out has all been about a disconnect between the owners and the players. I have not taken it as serious as most folks even though I am an avid sports fan. When they made the announcement in March that there may not be a 2011 NFL season I never broke my stride. After all, this is about so much more than the players and the owners. Its about money you all. Its about the networks, advertising, and continuing to pay these highly talented athletes.

I understand this all about protecting the players as well. I like some of the key points. For example, in case of a catastrophic injury the players will be compensated half their salary. Also, free agency will be structured a little differently to give free agents another year which could mean more security for them. I have to admit the best thing about the new deal is that rookies will be compensated based on their performance. So there will be many performance clauses built in a foot ball players contract. In other words, the concept prevents players that have never played a down from being paid enormous amounts of money without performing. If they prove to be a legitimate star then they will be paid appropriately.

In other NFL news, Brett Farvre is in the rumor mill again of a possibile come back. I love him and think he is probably among top 15 players to ever play but its time to hang up the cleats for real this time. Especially since all the buzz is he would be a back up quarterback. Enough is enough Brett. Your a grandfather for God's sake. With that all said I can't wait til I hear all those country artists proclaim on Monday night..."Are you ready for some football" Yay!!!

Entourage The Final Season

For seven seasons, Entourage fans have followed the trials and tribulations of a group of friends navigating life in Hollywood. At the helm of the dramedy is Vince played by Adrien Grenier. We have watched how Vince along with his cohorts have for the most part lived the good life. In season seven, things took a sharp turn for Vince. He got addicted to porn and cocaine. It is Hollywood after all and he is a good looking actor so I guess no big surprise there right?

When the season premiers tonight, July 23rd, Vince is ending his 90 day rehab stint. There is good comedy to be had when Kevin Dillion's character Drama is trying to rid the mansion of all the booze and marijuana. If you have watched, you know that this may be a difficult task. After all, this show was always about booze and boobs.

Vince isn't the only one who has had a personal upheaval. Eric is newly single after his engagement is broken off with Sloane. Rumor is that she mails him the engagement ring valued at $30,000. Wow, that's cold. They are not even on speaking terms. Jeremy Pivens character is also having some marital problems which points to an emotional ending I bet.

This won't be the last we will see of the boys though. Yes this is the last season but all indications are pointing to a reprise on the big screen. Rumor is there will be a movie and it will be big. Probably starring executive producer, Mark Whalberg playing himself. But until then get your tissues ready. It's probably going to be a transformational ending to a great show. Save me a seat.

Amy Adams Looking For Deceased Amy Winehouse

Amy Adams is alive and kicking folks. Why is she trending? I started to look into whether there was some hot news on Amy Adams until one of my sources reminded me it must be all the web searches people are doing for Amy Winehouse. I am sure it won't be the only time Amy Adams will trend as hot topics. But not today. She is a brilliant actress but I am pretty sure she only shares the first name in common with Amy Whinehouse. We will miss Amy Winehouse. What an ironic name for a person who struggled with addiction.

RIP Amy Winehouse Dead At 27

Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and now Amy Winehouse. What do all of these rockers have in common? They all gave us hours of entertainment and all also died very sad and tragic deaths at the age of 27. Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment this afternoon, July 23, 2011. Ambulances were dispatched but when they arrived they found the young rocker already gone.

Winehouse was last seen at the iTunes festival where her protoge and God Daughter was performing. Witnesses said she stumbled on stage and implored everyone to buy her protege's CD. She didn't sing but she was seen dancing and stumbling around on stage. Before that appearance, the last sighting of her was at her own concert where she appeared to be visibly intoxicated. She fell twice and couldn't recall the lyrics to her own songs. At one point she even asked one of her back up singers to take the lead because she could no longer perform. She eventually stumbled off stage and the remainder of her concert tour was cancelled.

Winehouse's rise to fame has always been dogged by her well documented struggles with substance abuse. Her struggles included not only alcohol but heroin and cocaine. Prior to beginning her last tour, she spent a week in yet another rehab facility... Yeah Yeah Yeah. Though she constantly dealt with personal obstacles, she always believed she would beat her demons. "If you can't sort something out for yourself, No one can".

Winehouse released her second album in 2006 featuring the single "Rehab" which Time Magazine named the best song of 2007 and Rolling Stone espoused it as the 8th best song of the 2000's. Before her Grammy award album was released, she began showing up to rehearsals and gigs highly under the influence. Her management company suggested she try rehab. She fired the company and channeled her feelings into her hit single Rehab. I guess in the end she got her wish. Nobody is gonna be trying to get you back in rehab Amy. Rest in peace talented one. Peace and Love. Amy is survived by her parents and two siblings.

RIP Borders - Borders Closing Its Doors

After a great 40 year run, Borders Books and Music is closing their doors. I never worked at Borders but it was the first book store I would visit on my own. I would sit there and coo at the enormity of the written word. It is very sad to hear this news. I know we all saw it coming but it really is still shocking that this is the end of Borders. I suppose it's a lot more shocking and sad for the 1100 employees that are about to lose their job. I remember back in the 90's when Border's became popular when it was putting the so called smaller boutique shops out of business. I remember the disdain I had for this and I promised I wouldn't frequent Border's. I would only patronize the local mom and pop book stores. However, in the end, Border's won because they had a much larger selection of magazines and most importantly the introduction of the coffee cafe. I loved to sit and drink coffee and read the periodicals.

In the end, the demise of Border's will be blamed on the fact that they denied and ignored the power of the Internet. They literally had the same frame of mind as folks that would say the Internet won't last. I remember saying to my friend, 17 years ago, do you have an email address?  She then proclaimed, "NO, and I'm never getting one." Today that same friend is a Facebook addict and I remind her all the time the ridiculousness of her past statement. It was pretty much the same attitude Border's asserted when Amazon was born. They waited too long to catch up to technology.

The other thing that was great about Border's was they were the first ones to carry music as well as books. You could always pick up the latest record from your favorite artist and also discover new ones. I bought so much independent music at Border's back when people still purchased music. It was also very typical for an artist to have Border's on their list of tour dates. And Border's supported artistry so much they would allow the artist to sell their Cd's and allow them to keep 100 percent of the profit. Rest in Peace Border's. I will miss you.

Casey Anthony Verdict

I am listening to the pundits discussing and trying to surmise as to what the fate of Casey Anthony will be. It really strikes me how no one really has a clue. Will it be death for the tot-mom? I certainly hope not because I really think that the much maligned defense poked holes in the prosecutions theories. This was a circumstantial case. Wow! Not guilty on all counts. I certainly didn't see that coming. I can't believe Caylee's death will not be avenged. The prosecution did have some credible evidence. How could the jury do this? I hate to say that the system doesn't work but how could they set this woman free. She will probably get time served for lying and that's it.

I have been following this case for three years since the 911 call came in and Nancy Grace started covering it on a daily basis. We learned that she was a pathological lier. That the truth was not in her. That she told one lie on top of the other. It was obvious to me back then that she had something to do with the disappearance of her child. How could someone not report their own flesh and blood missing. It is just too much to swallow. But our justice system says that you have to believe the person is guilty beyond all exclusions. I agree that there was doubt raised but again what happened to Caylee? Does the jury really believe that it was a drowning gone wrong? An accident that snowballed out of control? That just lacks common sense in my opinion. I believe what most people believe that she chloroformed Caylee to go and party and that went terribly wrong. The only thing I can ascertain from today's verdict is that it is a function of the jury being sequestered and not having access to all the media who had already tried and convicted her.

Now, that being said my stomach does turn to think that Casey will become a celebrity and millionaire at the expense of her child. I am predicting that she will be selling her story and making the rounds on all the talk shows. That is the most sickening thing about all of this. She lied about having a job and now she will probably never have to get one. Caylee's life never avenged reminds you that sometimes life just isn't fair. God Bless Caylee! As one of my friends said. Well at least Caylee is in a better place and not with that monster.

Beyonce On Good Morning America

I started off the day a little grumpy.   My loud puppy woke me at 6:30AM. I quickly got over it however, because thanks to the relentless advertising by Good Morning America. I remembered that Beyonce was going to be performing in Central America on Good Morning America. So even though it was my day off, I got up and got my coffee and prepared to be thoroughly entertained.  Now I wasn't a fan of Destiny Child's music at all, but I always admired Beyonce. This woman is amazing. She is beautiful inside and out. Every time I see and hear her I am blown away.

Well today was no exception. She looked sexy, elegant, and stunning. But today what I loved the most is she wore her divaness out and proud. She is not afraid to be called a diva and it is apparent in every move she makes on stage. While her record is not getting the best reviews, I loved what she said. I wanted to make a record that had chords, changes, and bridges regardless if it's radio friendly or not. I was also amazed that she managed to have an all woman band playing live. She had a horn section Y'all!!! Loved It!

I was also so excited to hear that she will be starring in the remake of a A Star is Born with Clint Eastwood directing the film.  Robin Roberts from GMA asked her about it and she was so humble in her response.  Saying she was so honored to be cast in the role that originally starred Barbara Streisand.  Those are huge shoes to fill.  I'm sure the remake will be very different given the genius of Clint Eastwood but you could clearly see that she was genuinely thrilled.  She told Robin that she was even more honored being selected as an African American.  Can't say it enough. I love her!  I haven't bought a record in over 15 years but next time I'm in Target I will be picking it up.

The True Blood Season 4 Premiere

The wait is over. The premiere of True Blood is tonight and it promises to be another exciting season. Along with vampires, shape shifters, and werewolves they are adding witches to the brew.  LUV IT!. I think those deadly vampires need to see some magic in their midst. I mean they are not the only ones with powers right? The season premiere of True Blood promises to have all the bells and whistles in full force and will not disappoint.

All the Bill and Sookie fans will have to stay patient though. Remember last season Sookie is off in some other world known as fairy land since she is indeed a Fairy. That's where her powers are derived. She is surrounded by her loved ones and the forbidden fruit.  Don't eat the fruit Sookie! Sounds a little Genesis. She also found out last season that Bill betrayed her and was sent to the earth to manipulate her for his own gains. Sookie got so angry and hurt that she banished Bill from her house forever. Bye bye...bye bye now... No invite anytime soon I'm pretty sure. And for good measure she banished Eric too because she was finished with vampires for now. Now that Bill is upset, he is seeking revenge. Watch out because without his lady he can be violent.

All I know is that I hope Sookie has more scenes with that handsome werewolf and that they throw us a bone with more shirtless guys and dolls. Sorry couldn't resist. I must confess that I am not like all vampire addicts. I don't watch all things vampire, but this show with all its twist and turns and everybody appearing to be what they are not is pure entertainment. So I, like millions of others, will be on my couch with my glass of Merlot watching the season premiere of True Blood. This is the fourth season with many more to come I hope.

NY LEGALIZES SAME SEX MARRIAGE

It was a daunting task but finally it is a done deal ladies and gentleman. NY has legalized same sex marriage. It becomes the largest state to date to do this. NY joins five other states in giving its citizens its inalienable rights. Now gay folks can marry and be afforded the same rights that there heterosexual counter parts have had since the beginning of time. It is a pretty remarkable testament to the divided politics that republicans and democrats are known for that they reached a consensus on this issue.

It wasn't long ago in 2009 that the republican conservatives blocked the bill. Ironically one of the senators that voted no in 2009, Senator Stephan Saland voted yes this time. He said he could not deny anyone's basic rights anymore. Along with the senator a freshman GOP Mark Grisanti talked about his decision may not be popular with his peers but it was the right one.  The effects of this bill will most likely be felt well beyond the geographical constraints of NY. Due to the fact that any US citizen will be welcome to come to the Big Apple to tie the knot with their loved one. In 30 days folks will flock to the state where the gay rights movement started in the Stonewall riots in Greenwhich Village.

The only sticking point seems to be in regards to religious institutions. Republicans are demanding stronger legal protections for religious institutions who fear that they will be hit with lawsuits involving discrimination should they refuse to allow a wedding. A lot of people think NY came late to the game but when they came they sure hit a home run. Expect lots of love birds wedding all over NY. It couldn't have come at a better time considering the Gay Pride Festivities that are going on this weekend. Good Job Republicans! Ooops did I say that?

Peter Faulk Dies At Age 83 of Alzheimers The Great Columbo

We could all learn something from the well known character of Columbo that Peter Faulk portrayed in the 70's. It doesn't matter what other's think of you as long as you get the job done. Columbo definitely got the job done even if it was in a disheveled manner. Peter Faulk passed away on Thursday, June 23rd surrounded by his family. He had Alzheimer for several years and his wife who he married and divorced twice took excellent care of him.

Peter Faulk took a circuitous route to acting. Before he was an actor he served in the merchant marines as a chef. After that he worked for the federal government. While he had the acting bug at an early age he was turned down in auditions because of his unusual look. When he was three years old he had to have his cancerous eye removed. When he would go on auditions they would tell him that they could get somebody else with two good eyes. But that didn't stop him and eventually he landed on Broadway where he was lauded as a great actor. Once he landed the role of Columbo he had found his niche.

Columbo with his wrinkled trench jacket and half eaten cigar was an excellent detective. He would appear to be clueless but that was an act. He knew just what was going on. He didn't miss anything which is why he solved all his cases. Often times he would be interviewing a suspect and they would think he was finished. He wasn't he would turn around as he was about to leave and say one more thing I need to ask you. That one more thing was usually a piece of information that would crack the case. We could all learn something from Peter Faulk and Columbo. Never give up no matter what people say or think.

Casey Anthony Case: Cindy Anthony searches for chlorophyll

The question is this, Is this a mother's love or is it a mother in complete denial? I have to admit I think it is the latter. Nobody saw this coming I am pretty sure. The prosecution must have been dumbfounded by Cindy Anthony's testimony today in court. They never saw it coming. Every one thought Cindy's testimony was going to be a complete yawn fest. She never mentioned conducting any of the online chlorophyll searches in her depositions. This is a vital piece of the prosecution's case. And boy does she have some great explanations for performing those searches. All 84 times that the term chlorophyll was searched, Cindy claims those were done for health reasons for her pet dogs. She was afraid her dogs were being poisoned by eating bamboo plants that contained chlorophyll. While searching for chlorophyll the queries for chloroform were found in the searches. The prosecution is trying to prove that the t0t-mom drugged her kid with chloroform to knock her out.

I mean some could surmise that lying runs in the family. We all know that Casey is one. But wait is she telling the truth. Was she honest when she emphatically stated in her deposition that she did not search for info for chlorophyll online. We know she is still a liar after all she had a make believe nanny as well as a made up job. Now it is alleged that the father is also a pathological liar. So it would follow that the mother could also be somewhat of a fantasist. We all know a mother's love is a beautiful thing but this is damn near twisted.

Despite the allegations that the tot mom is leveling on Cindy's husband. She is willing to go to all sorts of lengths to save her daughter from a lethal injection. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised though. Remember when she was testifying last week and she walked back to her seat while mouthing the words "I love you" to tot-mom. So again is this love or denial. Will Cindy Anthony save her daughter. Not only did Cindy say that she performed the searches of chlorophyll and not the tot-mom. But further on in her testimony she attempted to debunk the prosecution's theory that the stain in the trunk was present when they bought the car in 2,000. The prosecution is asserting that the stain was a result of Caylee being stored in the trunk. YUK!
